Policies
All intake forms (Health History and Health Conditions) must be completed before the first treatment session and updated at least annually with any major health changes.
Informed Consent & Scope of Practice
Massage therapy and Reiki services at The Sage Room are intended to support relaxation, stress reduction, muscular tension relief, and overall wellness. Services are not a substitute for medical care, diagnosis, or treatment. Clients are responsible for communicating relevant health conditions, medications, injuries, or changes in health that may affect their session. Clients may request changes to pressure, technique, positioning, or the session at any time, and either the client or therapist may end a session at any time.
Privacy & Confidentiality
Your privacy is important to me. Client information—including intake forms, health history, treatment notes, and session details—is kept confidential and securely stored. Information is collected and used only as needed to provide safe, personalized care and meet professional or legal requirements. Information will not be shared with third parties without written consent unless disclosure is required by law. Verbal, written, email, and text communications will also be treated with confidentiality. Clients may request access to or correction of their records in writing.
Scheduling, Cancellation & Payment
Appointments are reserved especially for you, and your time is valued. To make scheduling fair to all clients, at least 24 hours' notice is required for cancellations or rescheduling. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice or missed appointments may be subject to 100% of the session fee. The cancellation fee may be waived at the therapist's discretion in the case of illness, emergency, or other extenuating circumstances.
If you arrive late for your appointment, your session may need to end at the originally scheduled time so that the next client's appointment is not delayed. The full session fee will apply.
Payment is due at the time of service. The Sage Room accepts payment through Square, Venmo, and cash made available at the time of booking. Any outstanding balances must be paid before scheduling additional appointments. Gift certificates and prepaid services are subject to their stated terms and are not redeemable for cash.
A note on illness: Please do not come to your appointment if you are experiencing symptoms of a contagious illness. Contact The Sage Room as soon as possible to reschedule. Your health and the health of others are more important than a cancellation policy, and illness-related cancellations will be handled with compassion and discretion.
Professional Boundaries
The Sage Room is a professional therapeutic space. All massage therapy sessions are strictly non-sexual, and respectful communication and behavior are expected from both client and therapist. The therapist reserves the right to end a session or decline future services if professional boundaries are not respected.
Minor Client Policy
The Sage Room welcomes clients ages 13 and older with written consent from a parent or legal guardian. A parent or legal guardian must remain onsite for the entire session and may choose to be in the treatment room or wait just outside in the waiting area.
Your child’s comfort and safety are my priority. Before and during the session, minors are encouraged to ask questions, communicate their preferences, request adjustments, or end the session at any time. Appropriate professional draping and boundaries will be maintained throughout every session.
A parent or legal guardian must complete the Minor Consent & Liability Form before the first appointment.
Client & Therapist Rights
You have the right to receive care in a safe, respectful, and supportive environment and to communicate your needs throughout your session. You may ask questions, request modifications, or decline any technique or portion of a session. The therapist also has the right to establish professional boundaries, modify or discontinue treatment when appropriate, and decline services when doing so is necessary for safety or professional reasons.
